  Yes, we are returning. Yes, we have arranged a residency at Monto Water Rats, a rather charming bijou venue in London's King's Cross. Yes, I have some new underpants.

  A band meeting was held on Monday. On Neil's recommendation we met at the City House on Bishopsgate because they 'have delightful private rooms', only to find that the City House, and indeed, the whole block in which it stood, had been demolished. There was nothing but a large bomb crater. Undeterred, lunch was sought and found, and plans are afoot for the band to rise from the ashes. We feel Simon was irreplaceable, so we won't replace him, we'll continue as a fourpiece.

  We plan to find a new residency - something with a larger stage than the Wilmington perhaps - but still with the same bijou atmosphere.

  Monday nights from February onwards is the plan. Then perhaps Edinburgh Festival...
